It’s three (3) years since the signing of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan or (R-ARCISS) in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum and until now; the enactment of the articles in the agreement has been mired with deceitfulness and reluctance. Hatred, division and other forms of conflicts continue to ravage the nation. Religious leaders at different capacities are equally concerned.
However, their efforts to push for lusting peace are faced with coercions from the incumbent leadership. Even so, the intimidation seems to have hit the hard rock as church leaders claim not to be broken by the sword of threats.
His Grace, Erkolano Lodu Tombe bishop of the catholic diocese of Yei stresses that the Church will not condone any form of intimidation against them. He says the religious leaders are not afraid of gunmen threatening God’s people.
It is not clear what exactly protracted the reaction, but the Bishop being so determined in his homily insists that it is the obligation of the Church to preach and challenge South Sudanese, especially the leaders when they go wrong.
