Increasing unemployment push citizens into tricky business

Some jobs are in men–dominated fields, meaning women can hardly take them up. One example of such occupations is boda-boda. Boda-boda include bicycle and motorcycle taxis. These are mostly found in East Africa. Now; in the North of Uganda, where traditions are so strong and still enshrined in the communities women are still left behind as far as competing with men is concerned. But as unemployment especially among Ugandan youth continue to rise, surpassing 70 per cent; more and more women are taking up jobs that are traditionally regarded as men’s jobs. Atim Pamela, takes a closer look at the boda-boda industry that has remained a–men–dominated–field for decades.
