Civilians in the former South Sudan’s Central Equatoria State are fleeing their homes again – and entering neighbouring Uganda. But Uganda will not accept them, according to (Ugandan) authorities. Yesterday, the authorities “intercepted” nearly 200 asylum seekers who await repatriation. Hundreds more are expected to arrive everyday, in the coming days as armed attacks on civilians intensify in their home country (South Sudan). The new arrivals are entering Uganda through unofficial routes commonly known as panya. Ugandan authorities say some of the “illegal migrants” arrive naked and without shoes or sandals on their feet. Adidi Rashul has the report.
