The government of Uganda instated “risk–duty–allowances” for all front line workers fighting against the spread of COVID–19 pandemic. However, workers in various parts of the country complain of payment delays. Many have not received any cash yet. Last week the team of healthcare workers at Uganda–South Sudan border point of Oraba laid down their tools protesting over unpaid “risk–duty–allowances”, leaving cross–border businesses at a stand still.
