Coronavirus: Refugees finally receive their free face masks

Refugees line up in order to receive their free face masks. Both government of Uganda and UNHCR spearheaded the distribution.

In effort to fight against coronavirus pandemic, the government of Uganda distributed free face masks to its citizens. However, refugees as well as other non-nationals were excluded. One month later, the government in partnership with aid agencies distributed free face masks to refugees of Yumbe district too. Close to 200,000 individuals have received one face mask per person, according to UNHCR. But Refugee Welfare Council Chairperson, Geriga Charles, who is the refugees’ representative wants more.
